Ear Seed Points That Help Soothe Facial Inflammation

Ear Seed Points That Help Soothe Facial Inflammation

Waking up with a puffy face, sore jaw, or heavy pressure around the eyes can feel frustrating before the day even begins. Whether it comes from stress, allergies, sinus congestion, or skin flare-ups, facial inflammation has a way of showing up right when you least want it. In Chinese medicine, these symptoms are often linked to heat, stagnation, and an overworked immune response - essentially, your body asking for better flow and balance.

The ear offers a surprisingly effective way to help calm this reaction. Through its close connection with the nervous system and facial circulation, specific ear points can gently signal the body to reduce swelling, ease pressure, and restore harmony. By working with both local facial reflex points and deeper regulatory points, ear acupressure supports your body’s natural ability to settle inflammation from the inside out.

A - Known in auricular acupuncture as the Face and Cheek Point, this spot is located on the lower earlobe and corresponds to the facial region. Stimulating it helps improve circulation in facial tissues, reduce puffiness, and calm localized inflammation such as redness, acne flare-ups, and facial tenderness.

B - Often referred to as the Eye and Sinus Point, this area is found on the upper portion of the earlobe and is closely linked to the eyes and sinus cavities. Activation of this point can ease pressure around the eyes, encourage sinus drainage, and soothe inflammation associated with allergies or congestion.

C - This point is traditionally known as the Upper and Lower Jaw Point and is situated along the antitragus. It reflects the jaw, teeth, and facial muscles and is commonly used to relax tight facial muscles, reduce jaw and dental inflammation, and support relief from tension-related discomfort such as clenching or TMJ symptoms.

D - Known as Shen Men, or the “Spirit Gate,” this is one of the most important points in auricular therapy. It plays a central role in calming the nervous system. Stimulating Shen Men helps reduce stress-driven inflammation, enhance pain relief, and support the body’s overall healing response, making it a powerful companion point for facial conditions.

E - Often called the Allergy or Immune Point, this spot is located in the inner concha of the ear and supports immune and allergic regulation. It is especially helpful for facial inflammation related to sinus issues, skin sensitivity, or seasonal allergies, encouraging a balanced immune response rather than overreaction.
